MidAtlantic
Business Advisors, originally trading as MidAtlantic
Resources, was founded in 2002 by Ronald F.
Rash in response to a service void he experienced. After an early
career in Fortune 500 companies, Mr. Rash acquired, started, or
invested in thirteen closely held mid-market businesses over the next
twenty-plus years, operating four of them himself. Over the years,
beginning in 1986, he divested himself of many of these companies
through third party sales, but never found competent intermediaries to
assist in the process. Professional advisors are readily available to
upper middle-market and large businesses, but not to lower
middle-market companies. These businesses (companies with $500,000 to
$20,000,000 in annual revenues) are MidAtlantic Business
Advisors’ target market; they are the type
businesses Mr. Rash owned, operated, bought, and sold himself.
Looking back on these experiences in
later years, it became obvious to Mr. Rash that he “didn’t
even know what he didn’t know” as he forged his way through
his own various transactions. After selling his last owner operator
venture in 2001, he founded MidAtlantic Business
Advisors to guide other business owners and owners-to-be
through the complex maze of issues associated with exiting, selling,
and buying businesses. Through continuing education from the
International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) and the Business
Brokers Network (BBN) as well as numerous transactions, Mr. Rash has
gained the experience, certifications, and knowledge necessary to
competently assist others, and to ensure that they don’t make
expensive and irreversible mistakes in these all important
transactions.
As MidAtlantic Resources, Mr. Rash began
as a sole practitioner, and then in 2005, his son, John F. “Jack” Rash II left the
financial planning industry to join him. The name modification from
“MidAtlantic Resources” to “MidAtlantic
Business Advisors: Business Brokers” was
made to more clearly communicate to potential clients exactly what we
do. Together, Ron and Jack offer lower middle-market companies a unique
combination of business and financial expertise that can truly guide
them through the challenging times of ownership change. Click here to see more information on our
